轻主语先站位，重内容后进场：英语里的 dummy it

英语句子很喜欢尽早让听话人知道：

主语位置已经有人站着，句子要开始了。

可真正要谈的内容，有时偏偏很长。

例如：

To explain the whole problem over the phone is difficult.

语法可以成立。

但日常英语很常把它重新打包：

It is difficult to explain the whole problem over the phone.

这个 it 没有在指一个东西

如果我说：

I bought a lamp. It is blue.

it 明明白白回指 lamp。

可在：

It is difficult to explain this.

你很难追问：

it 到底是哪件物品？

因为它今天没有承担普通代词的指称工作。

语法书常把这种 it 叫 dummy / empty / artificial subject。

名字可以先放一边。

先看它做了什么：
